A playful, curiosity‑driven space where children explore real food, build confidence through discovery, and learn how what they eat shapes how they feel, think, and grow.

Born from parenthood, inspired by my daughters, and developed through years of working with schools and children, the Food Science Lab brings nutrition to life through hands‑on learning and joyful exploration.

Here, children become “food scientists” — exploring ingredients, noticing how they change, mix, and react, tasting flavours, and uncovering the superpowers hidden in everyday foods.

It’s food education without pressure or perfection — just curiosity, confidence, and connection.

What We Do

Everything in the Food Science Lab is designed to make real food exciting, accessible, and empowering for children — while giving schools and families practical, science‑backed tools they can use every day.

School Workshops — Curriculum‑aligned, hands‑on sessions delivered during the school day. Children explore ingredients, discover their “superpowers,” and learn through sensory play and simple experiments — mixing, tasting, observing, and creating. Workshops can follow set themes like The Magical Rainbow Tree, Food Superpowers, and Eating in Season, or be tailored to school needs, from harvest festivals to science weeks to wellbeing days. A flexible, memorable way to enrich PSHE, science, and whole‑school wellbeing.

After‑School Food Science Lab — A lively weekly club where children dive into edible experiments, sensory investigations, flavour challenges, creative food projects, and playful science‑meets‑food discoveries. They investigate the superpowers hidden in their ingredients and explore how to put together balanced meals and snacks that support focus, steady energy, and everyday wellbeing — all while building real confidence with food.

Breakfast Clubs — A calm, nourishing start to the day filled with simple morning food creations, gentle experiments, mindful tasting, and energising routines. Children learn to build balanced breakfasts and snacks that help them feel focused, fuelled, and ready for real life, and they investigate the superpowers hidden in their ingredients — discovering how different foods support mood, concentration, and energy for the day ahead.

Holiday Clubs — Seasonal half‑day or full‑day sessions held during school holidays, packed with experiments, bold flavours, outdoor adventures, and playful food discoveries. Children might create natural colour explosions, build edible structures, test textures, explore seasonal ingredients, or run mini “food quests” that spark curiosity and confidence. High‑energy, hands‑on, and joy‑filled — perfect for keeping children engaged, active, and inspired when school is out.

Talks for Parents & Carers — Practical, engaging sessions that speak directly to the questions on parents’ minds. We explore real‑life family demands, and how to navigate nutrition between busy jobs and time‑pressed evenings. Topics include Confidence With Food Choices, Practical Hacks & Easy Mealtime Additions, Hassle‑Free Lunchboxes, Navigating Picky Eating, Demystifying Food Labels, and Understanding UPFs. We also explain how balanced nutrition support children’s focus, physical development, emotional regulation, and social engagement. Ideal for coffee mornings, PTA meetings, or parent evenings.

Why It Matters

Children learn best through play, exploration, and hands‑on experience.

The Food Science Lab gives them exactly that — a joyful, pressure‑free space to build a lifelong relationship with real food.

It also supports the adults around them. When children learn, parents learn. When parents learn, families transform. And when families transform, communities grow stronger.

This is how the Food Science Lab emerged: from real life, shaped by science, fuelled by a big pinch of curiosity — and a passion for making nutrition simple, joyful, and exciting for my children, your children, and generations to come.
